The cache is located just below the summit of Tor Y Foel near Llangynidr.
This cache involves a fairly strenuous walk to the summit of Tor Y Foel, which is 1807ft in height and overlooks Talybont reservoir in Powys. There are fantastic views all around and on a clear day you can see the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, including Sugarloaf and Table Mountain near Crickhowell.
There is a parking space for 2-3 cars at N51 51.955 , W3 15.474 and the obvious footpath is directly opposite. From here it is a one and a half mile upward walk through fields and open moorland. There are other routes to the peak but this is probably the easier option. On a clear day it is an extremely pleasant walk but obviously the weather can change rapidly and you should be prepared for this. For fantastic views of Talybont reservoir I suggest walking up from the other side of the hill. This is reached by driving up the small road about 100 meters beyond The Traveller`s Rest pub on the B road from Llangynidr to Talybont-on-Usk. After about 2 miles you reach a parking area at N51 51.643 W3 17.651. The views are amazing and the well-worn track is obvious !!
The cache is a sandwich box approximately 5ins x 3ins x 2ins containing small items and a log book. It is situated on a fairly steep bank so take care in wet conditions.
My partner Pauline suffers from a leg condition which means she has to walk with the aid of a stick. This is the highest hill she has ever walked up and therefore I have named this cache after her splendid achievement !
The cache site is fairly obvious so I have not added any spoilers or hints. The reward is the view !
