Geocache Description:

This cache is easily achieved within an hour, the path is mostly flat and mainly gravel. The last few metres down a narrow pathway with a kissing gate so may be tricky for a buggy to access. Total distance covered there and back is approximately 2km from car park.

Portchester Castle, a Roman Fortress and Medieval royal castle is owned by English Heritage. 6gowild thought there ought to be a cache here, so we have left one, but not in the grounds of the castle.

The castle is open every day except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day, 10am to 4pm, 6pm in Summer. There are 2 free public car parks at the coordinates above, often with an ice cream van in Summer, and public toilets. You can enter the castle walls free of charge, but have to pay to go into the actual castle and up the tower. On a clear day you can see for miles from the top.

If you're into bird watching take your binoculars particularly if the tide is out.

The cache is a regular tupperware container covered in camo tape.
