barkfeather: Well, the neighborhood has grown up. It was only a matter of time. Sorry for all the DNFs, I should have handled this a while ago.

Geocache Description:

Possibly the last Logic Puzzle. Certainly one of the hardest.
And, no...the cache is not at the posted coordinates

Eight couples from Fredericksburg- the Quigleys, the Ryans, the Smiths, the Thompsons, the Ushers, the Vogels, the Williamses, and the Youngs - decided to pool their efforts to collect money for charity. They called themselves the Fredericksburg Geocachers.

At their first meeting, the men - Irving, John, Ken, Lou, Mike, Nathan, Oliver, and Peter - and women - Alice, Betty, Clara, Donna, Elsa, Freida, Grace, and Helen - voted to split into four groups, each group to work for one particular charity - either the Cancer Society, the Heart Fund, the Kidney Foundation, or Muscular Dystrophy. As it worked out, an equal number of people opted to collect for each charity, though no group comprised four people of the same sex, and no man worked in the same group as his wife.

After the meeting the members went home to their houses on Birch, Chestnut, Elm, Maple, Oak, Pine, Spruce, and Walnut Streets. The next day they began collecting. In their spare time at work (their careers: attorney, stock broker, advertising manager, newspaper reporter, gynecologist, computer programmer, accountant, dermatologist, building contractor, ophthalmologist, freelance writer, psychiatrist, draftsman, airline pilot, television sportscaster, and biochemist)  they collected money until by their second meeting they had collected a total of $1000. This was in denominations ranging from $25 to $100, at five dollar intervals. Each person collected a different amount, and no more than $260 was collected for any one charity.

Armed with this information and the clues below, determine who is married to whom, the street on which each couple lives, the full name and occupation of each individual, and the amount of money each person collected for his or her particular charity.

1. Donna, Oliver, and the freelance writer worked for the same charity.
2. The person who collected $50 did not work for the Cancer Society.
3. Peter collected more than Lou.
4. Mrs. Vogel collected $5 less than the biochemist and $5 more than Mr. Williams. None of these people worked for the Kidney Foundation.
5. Betty collected more than the airline pilot.
6. The Thompsons collected for the Kidney Foundation and Muscular Dystrophy.
7. Mr. Usher collected $10 less than the woman who lives on Oak Street, and $10 more than the accountant.
8. Nathan and the man who lives on Chestnut Street were the only two men to work for the Heart Fund.
9. The dermatologist collected more money than the computer programmer.
10. Four women, each from a different charity group, played bridge every Thursday night. Here are some facts about their most recent evening...
a. In the first game, Grace and the woman who collected $60 beat the advertising manager and the woman who lives on Spruce Street.
b. In the second game, new teams were formed, and Helen and the newspaper reporter beat Mrs. Smith and the woman who lives on Maple Street.
c. In the third game, those who had still not been partnered with each other joined forces. The draftsman and the woman who collected $45 beat Elsa and the woman who lives on Walnut Street.
d. Mrs. Williams collected $25 less than Mrs. Usher (who did not live on Spruce Street.)
e. Alice collected more than $80.
f. In the second game, the attorney opposed the woman who lives on Elm Street.
g. The difference between the amounts collected by Elsa and the advertising manager is less than $30.
h. No woman won all three games played.

11. Mrs. Thompson collected $90.
12. Irving, the woman who collected $30, and the spouse of the person who collected $35 all worked for the same charity.
13. The woman who collected $75 worked for the Kidney Foundation
14. Mr. Young, the man who lives on Pine Street, and the person who collected $25 are three of the four doctors.
15. The psychiatrist collected $15 less than the ophthalmologist and $15 more than Mr. Thompson.
16. Mr. Ryan collected $20 less than his wife, and $5 more than Mike.
17. The sportscaster collected $5 less than his/her spouse, the stock broker.
18. John, Mrs. Vogel, and the man who lives on Walnut Street worked for Muscular Dystrophy.
19. Mrs. Young and the woman who collected $85 worked for the same charity.
20. Ken, the man who lives on Birch Street, and the man who collected $70 worked for the same charity.
21. The stock broker did not collect for the Cancer Society
22.  Freida, Mr. Thompson, the woman who collected $100, and the woman who lives on Elm Street worked for the same charity.

Now, create a chart based on dollar amount collected. The cache coordinates will be based on THE MOST SIGNIFICANT NUMERAL IN THE DOLLAR AMOUNT COLLECTED. For example, if Bill Dimwit, the Rocket Surgeon collected $85, the the cache coordinate could read (Bill), (Mr. Dimwit), or (Rocket Surgeon). Any of those references would equal 8. Simple as brain science! The cache can be found at

38o(Donna)(Freelance Writer).(Mr. Quigley)(Biochemist)(Nathan)
77o(Mr. Thompson)(Betty).(Stock Broker)(A gimme - zero!)(Mr. Young).
