During the Revolutionary war, General Washington twice stopped by this modest home. Early in the war he spent a night here and stayed again a few years later on his way to Yorktown to meet and defeat General Cornwallis. His troops camped nearby during his stays at this house. Legend has it that a baby boy was born during one of his stays and was held by General Washington. The legend doesn't note whether or not the kid needed a diaper change at the time.
