The cache is located at the side of a trail constructed by the women of the nearby Fire Crew 13 facility.

The name of this trail is "Agony." If you head down the trail a dozen yards or so and imagine someone keeping in shape by running up the hill carrying fire fighting gear, you will understand how it gets its name!

There are several ways to get to this point on the trail. You can come from the west, starting on the Backbone Trail where it crosses Encinal, and turning down Agony, and then climb that hill. And if you're looking for a real challenge, try running up it!

The easiest way is probably to come from the east, where it intersects the Backbone Trail.

The most interesting way is to come along the trail with the "Crew 13" cache. Trailhead and parking information is on that cache page.

You'll find a detailed trail map here (visit link)

You are looking for a small food container very close to the trail.

I too came here from the Crew 13 cache. That sure was a unique trail. I had to google the hint to understand it. I could see some horsed coming up the backbone trail from here. Up to about 20 ticks now.

A short trek over from the Crew 13 cache was no agony at all. I was interested in the Agony Trail but had one more cache to get in the other direction, plus darkness was coming and I figured I was better off on the BBT after sunset. Turned back uphill toward Trancas Canyon View.

PIcking up BBT caches today.

Grabbed after Bagonybone. An easy find. Decided to keep following the trail and to make a loop out of it. Bad idea. No only is the "trail" awful, it lead away from parking. And everything went downhill from there.
