Geocache Description:

You are seeking a small cache along the Germantown Greenbelt (not a micro). While the cache size is small it only inlcudes a log so please bring a pen.

Q: What does the cache name have to do with this cache?

A: Nothing really. I try to avoid puns and clues in my cache names.

Q: What is Giardia anyway? Is it a type of Italian ice cream?

A: No but that is a good guess.

Giardia is a genus of anaerobic flagellated protozoan parasites of the phylum Metamonada in the supergroup “Excavta” that colonise and reproduce in the small intestines of several vertebrates causing giardiasis. Their life cycle alternates between an actively swimming trophozoite and an infective, resistant cyst. The genus is named after a French zoologist Alfred Mathieu Giard. - Wikipedia (Thanks for asking I hope this has helped clarify the matter.)

A: I'm still confused about the name Giardia?

Q: It makes your stomach hurt and causes excessive gas along with the Hershey squirts. (Now you know why it was named after a French person.) Just kidding I love France and our other European friends. I strongly suggest that you visit someday if you haven't. Great people and places to see (no joke). My in-laws hail from over there and they don't stink. That is just a dumb rumor.

A: Why in the heck would you give yourself that name?

Another good question. It is difficult to continually come up with new handles for websites and message boards. Even when you think you have a good name it turns out that someone has already stolen your name even before you thought to use it. I hate it when that happens. Anyway, I figured nobody was dumb enough to use Giardia. Well I was wrong because there was already a Giardia on geocaching.com and I being both dumb and lazy simply added '_boy'. You can call me Giardia though.

Q: When will be the demise of the earth?

A: 2012. Please have get your cache hunts completed and logged before then.

Q: What is your favorite number?

A: 6.022137 x 1023 – (Avogrado's Number) Something to do with moles but I forget. BTW. This is my lucky lottery number so please don't use it.

Q: What is your second favorite number?

A: PI (3.14159265....) It is irrational, sort of like me. This was my soccer jersey when I was a youth.

Q: Why do we park in a driveway but drive on a parkway?

A: Modern science has yet been able to resolve this conundrum. Sort of like why does East Parkway run North/South and North Parkway run East/ West?

Q: How tall are you Giardia?

A: 1854.20 mm

Q: (Bitbrain) Do these glasses make my brain look fat?

A: This is a sensitive topic for many so I will try to be delicate. In your case I think the issue is that you have your glasses or lens on backwards. While I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV I do believe prolonged wearing of glasses backwards can cause an eye condition known as 'Gigantis Oculus'. FWIW - I am a rocket surgeon.

Q: (Abiectico)Will you ever turn your creativity towards creating mystery/puzzle caches?

A: Wow, a question I think I can 'honestly' answer. One of the great things about caching is that there different aspects for people to enjoy (getting outdoors, unique hides, getting bit by a venomous snake, or puzzles). I do like puzzles but haven't solved many puzzle caches. I must rectify this but it is difficult when there are so many traditionals and multi-caches in my vicinity to complete. Now back to the question. Yes, I have some thoughts on a few puzzles that I think will be fun but one man's fun might be another's venomous snake. Without providing puzzle specifics I have a draft of my "Machine Gun Kelley - Lost Loot" cache. I also have plans for a "Ghost In the Machine" cache (and a few others). My thinking (I use the word loosely) is that I want my caches to be unique to keep things fresh. Perhaps your question be the motivation I need to complete.

Q: (itcomagic) What is your favorite Star Wars Episode and why?

A: I've lost a quite a few dendrites since the release of these movies so you are asking a lot. I think I would go with the first movie (episode #4) since I was young and impressionable. The special effects, characters, costumes, and music now make this movie iconic. I orginally saw it at the theater but around that time vcrs (remember those) had just come out and a friend had one. A big, top loading variety with NO remote. Yes, we had to walk all the way across the room to pause etc (and it was uphill both to and from the vcr). Anyway, somehow they got a bootleg copy of the movie so we were watching and rewatching before you could buy movies. PS. If you know where I can pickup a few lightly used dendrites cheap then let me know.

When you log your find please let me know if you have any additional questions. I will attempt to get an answer or more than likely I will make something up that sounds plausible. .
