This traditional cache is in the Wildman Tract of the Simcoe County
Forest on a side trail off the Ganaraska Trail. The cache is a
medium sized lock-n-lock container. Park at N44 38.892 W079 55.312.
Alternate parking is at: N44 38.634 W079 56.935 (better in spring
to avoid wet trails.)
The Wildman Tract, named after J.F. Wildman who acquired this
forest, is the largest tract of forest in Simcoe County. It
stretches from the Tiny Marsh on the south to the town of Wyevale
in the north.
As you walk through the forest it changes from managed coniferous
forest to birch and old growth forest as you get deeper in to the
woods. There are a number of trails and each has its own character.
The cache, the first of several planned in the forest, is located
in an area that attracts waterfowl and a variety of animals.
Watch for the no trespassing signs as the path here is very near
the northern border of the tract.
In Spring months - The west entrance should be used due to
excessive water on trail to east of cache site. This will likely be
a problem throughout spring.
