Chuck Walla: Greetings from Geocaching.com!

Since you have not responded to my reviewer log about your cache, the cache has been archived.

Some time ago, I posted a note to your cache page requesting a response from you to post what you were planning to do with the cache on the page and to send me a note. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that you are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Sincerely,

Chuck Walla

Geocache Description:

Bring along your hiking boots, and a bottle of water, but leave your vertigo at home.

** NEWEST UPDATE***
Our Government, the Forest Service in particular... in it's infinite wisdom has seen fit to place a gate up on the road to this cache in order to keep you, the tax payer from enjoying YOUR PUBLIC LANDS. Please do not let this discourage you. If you pull in and park at the gate, you will have only about 3 hundred more yards of hiking before you begin on the trail. You could also park at the visitor information center and hike the earthquake ridge trail and get close enough to began a trek to the cache. Good luck and enjoy.

***UPDATE***
It seems that everyone is having trouble finding the trail to this cache. If you drive up just beyond the dam to the right, you can park and be at the beginning of the bomber trail. Information on this trail can be found at the USFS Information center about 100 yards back down the road before you turn in here. The trail is well blazed. YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO OVERLAND ACROSS THE DRIED LAKE, BUT YOU CAN IF YOU LIKE THE ADVENTURE.
I have been visiting this area for quite a few years and just love the location. I felt that a cache here would be the best way to share it. You will have to cross the dam to the otherside and look up the hill a short distance.
When we set out to hide this cache, it was sunny, but as luck would have it, the clouds rolled in before we got there. So, consequently, the accuracy of coordinates could be off somewhat. I trust that if you think like a geocacher, you will have no difficulty locating this one either. thanks to Rlawry for getting the trailhead coordinates. I have been working so much lately, I haven't been able to go do it. I will be visiting the cache today just to check things out etc.. Trailhead coord's are N34 36.371 W094 14.685. It really is a great hike. Good luck.

The cache is a traditional .30 cal ammo can. the contents are as follows:
5-2002 olympic pins
carabiner
rmcc pencil
bottle opener
ace bandage
key lanyard
fish america belt buckle
fix-a-flat for bicycles
american flag pin
altoid tin
smokey the bear magnet
2-hot hands
sakajewa dollar
amerigas pot holder

This dam was built many years ago by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It is a remarkable feat since there is no road into this area. All the rock and concrete had to be carried in.
I give this a terrain difficulty of three since it is about a 3/4 mile walk over mixed terrain.
