Geocache Description:

This cache is placed as part of the New York State Park Saratoga/Capital District Region Geocache Challenge. Peebles Island is at the confluence of two branches of the Mohawk River that meet up with the Hudson River. From this cache you will have a view of two rivers.

This cache is placed as part of the New York State Park Saratoga/Capital District Region Geocache Challenge. There are 44 geocaches hidden within 11 state parks and state historic sites in the Saratoga/Capital District region, and geocachers finding them will be eligible to enter their names in a drawing for valuable prizes. If you are interested in taking up the challenge, you can pick up a geocaches passport at any of the participating parks and sites, or download the passport at www.nysparks.com.

This cache contains a unique stamp which must stay with the cache. Use this stamp to stamp your passport. This stamp is NOT a trade item. The items in this container are souvenirs and do not need to be replaced with a trade item.

Peebles Island is at the confluence of two branches of the Mohawk River that meet up with the Hudson River. From this cache you will have a view of two rivers. The pavilion at Peebles Island was built in 1997 and has been the site of many weddings, family gatherings, picnics and celebrations. The overlook platform was built on top of an existing concrete base that was erected to support electrical lines coming from Waterford to Van Schaick Island in 1909.

Weekdays from 8:30a.m. until 4:30 p.m. clues to the special cache are available in the reception area of the main buildings on the park.
