Geocache Description:

A fun kids cache based upon the popular TV Show - Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. Although the new regs require this to be a mystery cache - don't put it on your ignore list. It is more like a multiple choice multi cache.

It’s time to fess up! As parents, we’ve all been there. Dinner’s over and you’re at the kitchen table working on homework with your kids. That’s when it happens – you’re stumped. You’re staring at the problem on your child’s homework paper thinking to yourself “I know this looks familiar, I know I’ve done this before! Why is it I could do Calculus in college and I can’t figure out my 9 year olds Math homework?”

While your head is spinning, your child is looking at you waiting patiently for you to enlighten them and help them through this problem. After all, you HAVE done this before …right?

So, here is your chance to prove to your child (and to yourself) that you did pay attention in grade school and that you ARE smarter than a 5th grader!

To get started bring your kids or your grand kids…or see if you can borrow someone else’s (uh… get permission first) – they are your back up.

At the IP you will find your first question. The question will have three answer choices all with different coordinates next to the answers. Choose your answer and go to those coordinates. If you have answered correctly you will move up to the next grade, find a CONGRATULATIONS and a new question to answer.

If you have not chosen wisely then you will need to repeat the grade, go back to class (that would be the last part of the multi where the question came from) and start again by choosing another answer.

You will be searching for a mixture of small containers – either cylindrical or a Decon container until you reach the final. The final is a 30 cal ammo can stuffed with goodies for the kids.

PLEASE NOTE:
There are railroad tracks that run parallel to the bike trail in this area. Along the trail there is a 25 – 30 foot vegetation buffer between the trail and the tracks. All hides are along the bike trail edge and you will NEVER need to go over berm within the vegetation buffer, or past any of the utility lines that run down the center of this buffer. If your GPS is telling you to go past the trail side of the buffer it is off on the coords so DON'T follow it.

Also, depending on the weather your feet may get a little wet at times unless you have long legs or you are very good at the long jump.

Although this cache can be done at night, it will increase the difficulty and, in the summer, the amount of bug spray required. Here’s the deal – you must agree to be honest in your log. Did you repeat a grade or need to phone a friend or a teacher for extra help? Did you bring your laptop to cheat on your test? For all those who pass without their children’s help, who didn’t repeat a grade or did not phone a friend you can log that you are Smarter Than a 5th Grader – we may even post an Honor Roll! If you fail a grade, or needed remedial assistance, tutoring or, summer school then your log better start with “My name is and I am not smarter than a 5th grader”.

All logs must start with one of the following:

“My name is (cacher name) and I am not smarter than 5th grader”
OR
“My name is (cacher name) and I am smarter than 5th grader”

Remember – this is for fun so, fess up! Don’t worry, none of the adults we tried it on scored a 100!!

Have Fun and Good Luck!!
