INDIANA
SPIRIT QUEST #632
"A
or E? WE got you covered!"
Welcome to Mentone IOOF Cemetery, a large burying place in
Kosciusko County.
On the Cemetery Sign you will note they spelled the word
Cemetery correctly in the Title, but with the dreaded "a" in the
rules, not just once but twice. Duh!!
Maintenance by Buddaman.
IN ORDER TO LOG A SMILIE ON THIS
PUZZLE CACHE, YOU MUST UPLOAD A PHOTO WITH YOUR LOG OF ANY MONUMENT
IN THE CEMETERY. INCLUDE A TRANSCRIPTION WITH NAME AND BIRTH/DEATH
DATES. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL NEGATE YOUR FIND, in a
hurry.

HUH?
Printers have to be able to read type
backwards and reversed (Mirror image). As a hard type printer I can
tell you getting an "N" right is probably the most daunting task of
any letter you have to deal with. Guess that's what happened here,
altho I think they should have made it right...

The remains of American servicemen previously unaccounted-for from
Southeast Asia are being returned to their families for burial in
the United States. The remains have been identified as Capt. Howard
P. Purcell, USAF, of Landsdowne, Pa.; 1 st Lt. Neil B. McKinney,
USAF, of Muncie, Ind.; Staff Sgt. Raphael Cruz, USAF, of
Stockton, Calif.... On Sept. 2, 1963, Purcell, McKinney and Cruz
were flying aboard a B-26B aircraft on an air cover mission over
Kontum Province, Vietnam. They were observed by their relief
aircraft, but never returned to Da Nang Air Base. An extensive
search and rescue effort failed to locate the missing aircraft. In
1992, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) repatriated to the
United States human remains and identification media for all three
crew members. The remains of these three servicemen were identified
individually, and are also part of a group remains identification.
Mitochondrial DNA testing was used to confirm the three
identifications.

The 12th and 16th Tactical Recon Squadrons were stationed at Tan
Son Nhut Air Base near Saigon. On the night of 16/17 Sep 1967 two
men from the 12th TRS departed on a recon mission over the
southernmost part of North Vietnam flying RF-4C tail number
64-1037, an aircraft assigned to their sister squadron the 16th
TRS. The aircraft did reach its target area but then disappeared
entirely, believed to have been shot down 5 miles or so north of
the Demilitarized Zone. After search-and-rescue efforts failed, the
two crewmen were classed as missing in action, and remained in that
status until the Secretary of the Air Force approved Presumptive
Findings of Death for them. The two men were * Major William L.
Nellans, Warsaw, IN (PFoD 11/02/1973) * Captain Peter A. Grubb,
Southampton, NY (PFoD 06/24/1977) Their remains have not been
repatriated.
SUMMERLAND
The Summerland is the name given by Wiccans (and some Pagans)
and other earth-based religions for their afterlife. The belief is
that after one experiences life to its fullest and comes to know
and understand every aspect and emotion of life (usually after many
reincarnations), their deity will let them into the Summerland. The
Summerland also functions as a place of rest between incarnations.
As the name suggests, it is often envisaged as a place of beauty
and peace, where everything people hold close to their hearts is
preserved in its fullest beauty for eternity. It is envisioned as
containing wide (possibly eternal) fields of rolling green hills
and lush grass.
For the rest of us, it's an excellent opportunity to view TV
images of Lori Loughlin, Taylor Cole and Carmen Electra in
Swimsuits...
