Triple B-Flat Reprise Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

CacheNCarryMA: I got a note from the Trail Buzzards that they searched for this cache and could not find it. I trust their experience that this one is gone. My family no longer has a place in Brewster, so I will not be replacing this one.

Would anyone else local like to take up the challenge of putting out a replacement cache?

Geocache Description:

Breakwater Beach, Brewster Flats. Elevation 0 to -10. LOG ONLY

This cache is a sequel, of sorts, to the original cache "Triple B-Flat (GCJTM1)" placed at this location. That cache was stolen and archived in August, 2004.

This cache is placed (it's not hidden under anything except the tide) between the high and low tide marks at one of CnC's kids' favorite beaches. Add three stars to the difficulty and terrain ratings if you come at high tide. A good place to canoe or kayak - except during low tide :) ! There are lots of critters to watch here, including crabs (green, lady, and hermit crabs, and sometimes horseshoe crabs), minnows, and large moon snails. If you're lucky, the ice cream truck may stop by while you're there.

The ideal time to search for this cache would be the two hour window of time beginning one-hour before each posted low tide and ending one-hour after the low tide.

Parking
Parking stickers are required for the public beach parking lot from 9AM-3PM daily, June 15 to Labor Day, and can be purchased for $15 at the at the back of the Brewster town building on Route 6A, just east of the Mobil station. A parking violation ticket is $30. I'm not sure how often they check the lot for unstickered cars. You could also try parking at the Mexican restaurant, the General Store, or church on Route 6A and Breakwater Road, and take the ten minute stroll down the lane. DO NOT park on Breakwater Road!

Cache Details
Cache is 0.76 miles away, at a bearing of 322°, from the split rail fence at the corner of the parking lot.

Depending on when you're searching, the cache will be in 0 to 10 feet of water. The container is a small, white Nalgene bottle with a 1" diameter opening on a two-foot long tether and may be seen floating if the water is just right.

Log sheet
Please sign your geo-name and the date only. There's no room for comments. Also, the log sheet is made of tyvek, which doesn't take pencil or felt tip pen very well. Bring your own ballpoint pen.

Trade Items
None. This is a log-only cache.

Restoring the Cache
Please make sure the threads are clean - run your finger around the mouth to clear any sand and tighten the lid. Dig the weight out, so that it rests on the sand.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope the container doesn't get muggled too quickly like the original "Triple B-Flat" cache did.
