Massapequa reserve consists of 423 acres of freshwater wetlands,
the largest in the county. The Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail,
white blazed, transverses this 4 mile long park as part of its 20
mile length from the south to north shore. It will be rewarding to
those who stay on the actual trail and not the bike, dog and
walker's trail on the east side of a stream from the cache. The
cache side west trail hides all residential sights and you won't be
forced to cross a shallow stream here N 40° 41.085 W 073°
27.510.
I parked here for free N40 41.095 W73 27.730 You'll cross a neat
foot bridge at N40 41.079 W73 27.622 and a bird watching area along
the pond at N40 41.082 W73 27.548 There are other ways in I’m sure
if you want to discover them on your own that will have their own
rewards and risks.
Have fun.
Thanks. Alan.
