Geocache Description:

Park closes at 8:00pm.

King's Landing Park in Huntingtown, Maryland offers a wide range of natural experiences. A 200-foot fishing pier provides opportunity for fishing in the Patuxent River. Canoe and kayak access is also provided. Trails meander through upland forest, meadows and a boardwalk provides view of the marshes along Cocktown Creek. Picnic tables are provided in several locations.

Along the shore of the Patuxent River, King's Landing Park has a history stretching back to Captain John Smith's exploration and earlier. Once an active farm and later a YMCA camp, the property was acquired by Maryland Department of Natural Resources and is now managed by Calvert County. Kayakers, canoeists, and fishermen enjoy King's Landing's relaxing access to the river, nearby creeks, and marshes.

This cache is a standard 7.62mm ammo can. It was placed with permission of the park management in an area they suggested. When it was placed it contained a first to find prize put together by our daughter.

Although the difficulty rating is three, our eight year old daughter had no problems reaching the cache.

The cache is kid oriented but of course anyone is welcome. Be sure to enjoy the views this wonderful park has to offer. But beware the deer ticks are out there, check yourselves often.
