Between the Manchester Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library and
the boat ramp, there is a small, but very important, to us anyway,
Veterans Memorial. The names at this memorial are of the residents
of Manchester that have served in the US Armed Forces, and, in a
few cases, died for their Country.
This Memorial is the result of a joint effort of the AMVETS Port
Orchard Post 4, and the residents of Manchester. It is maintained
by volunteers.
As you read the names, please keep in mind that those
individuals’names were put there by their families, and not
any faceless agency.
This is my town’s Memorial. Please treat it with
respect.
The coordinates above will take you to Waypoint #1. There, you
need to find the bricks that are blanked out in the photos. Some of
the blanked out information on those bricks is needed to find the
coordinates of the cache itself.
You do NOT need the photos to find the bricks. The memorial
ain’t that big. But, they might make it easier.
To find ABC, take Mark Whitehead's first 3 digits of his first
year and add 157.
N 47° 33.ABC
To find XYZ, take the last 3 digits of Fred Ballard's YEAR, and
subtract 344.
W 122° 32.XYZ
The final coordinates were taken with a 20-foot EPE. Your
mileage may vary.
