The water cache is not out right now - but I am sure it will rise again sometime.
What follows applies to Mentors Cache and not Mentors Water Cache.
=====================================================
In some ways this is a very normal cache. It’s a simple ammo can in the woods, under a rock, near a tree, by a waterfall, on the lake. It is more easily reachable by watercraft. As geocaching has matured as a sport, some of its more active participants have found nearly everything there is to be found within miles. At least here in Austin, those same hyperactive geocachers have been wonderful mentors to those of us that are a little slower at knocking out the local caches. They have introduced many new people to the game, hosted events, and generally added to the sport.
For the super-cachers, introducing new folks to the game or hosting out of town cachers, or just dragging me along, always means going back to something they have already logged. For that you deserve a reward! I know that you cache-masters are pure as the driven snow regarding claiming a find and I also know that you would do anything for a legal smiley. So here is the deal.
You are free to log an extra find on this cache (that makes it legal) if your log includes a list of five other cache/cacher combinations where you have brought someone else to a cache you have already logged. You can take one person to five caches or five people to one cache or any combination there of.
Please remember to ask the people you have mentored to mention your name when they log their respective finds so I can conduct a strict audit of this process. This deal is prospective and only logs dated after August 5 are eligible.
The reason for this cache should be obvious. I am looking for company for the hundreds of caches I have not done yet in Austin and I am putting together my lists of five.
Environmental concern: If you are touching the lichen or climbing around on a mineral deposit you are going the wrong way. Please don’t try and climb the falls.
Satellite coverage is poor along the face of this cliff. The hints are spoilers.
