This cache overlooks Sullivan’s Gulch, which was carved out 14,000 years ago by the great Missoula floods that also carved out the Columbia River Gorge.
Originally the gulch was a forested riparian area featuring a spring-fed pool and waterfalls. It is named for Timothy Sullivan, an Irishman who settled his claim in 1851. During the great depression it was home to a “Hooverville” shanty town. Try to imagine what this place looked like 200 years ago.
There's no parking at gz - best to park at Freddy's and hoof it.
