In the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, the cradle of the factory system and industrial revolution. Best to park in Masson Mills car park, take care crossing the busy A6 towards the Hertitage Way.
The cache is a plastic clip box container in a camouflage bag with log book, pencil and swaps. Sir Richard Arkwright built his mills at Cromford between 1771 and 1791 and they were the world’s first successful water powered spinning mills – a true blueprint for factory production. In 1783 Arkwright built his showpiece Masson Mills a magnificent complex including the finest surviving and best preserved example of an Arkwright cotton spinning mill.
From here you are in Arkwright’s domain overlooking his legacy.
