Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden in a small wooded area west of Fairmount Street and north of the Duck Creek bike path. Best parking spot will be in the Fairmount Library parking lot, from there it is about a half mile hike. Walk north on the sidewalk along Fairmount Street over the bike path and the creek. An access trail that runs between Duck Creek and the Fairmount Wetland project will be to your right. Follow this trail to the wooded area where the cache is located.

The cache is a small screw-top container containing a log and one small item...be sure to bring your own pen/pencil. I was recently introduced to this area and it instantly became my favorite nature spot in the QC. The wooded area where the cache is located is in the heart of a city prairie/wetland restoration project, and while hiding the cache I was surprised to see such a plethora of wildlife. There is a small seasonal wetland area west of the cache, and while hiding we saw a snapping turtle and a male and female pair of Mallards. We also scared up a pheasant and heard a very loud toad and several frogs. I hope all you cachers out there enjoy the hike and the scenery as much I do.

Congratulations benenlow for FTF!
