Update 8/24/2025 - Due to seasonal conditions making this cache hard to reach, I have moved it closer to the radio tower, so it is now much easier to get to. The new coordinates are N 38 51.490 W 078 48.331. I have updated the description below and am working to get the coordinates updated.
This is a cache that was originally named "State Line #2 N.Mtn Trl Geocache" and was placed by Wordfried in 2004. It's an excellent cache and location that RgrRick adopted in May 2014 and that I adopted in 2019.
It is named for the Great North Mountain that separates Virginia and West Virginia and the North Mountain Trail that runs along the ridge and boundary line between the two states. Seekers will enjoy views East and West of both states.
The cache is located just inside the start of the trail, on the WV side, and heading south, past the radio tower. Despite the low amount of visitors to this cache, it is in good shape and well-maintained. However, if you discover that this cache is in need of maintenance, please let me know.
