Geocache Description:

Are you in Wisconsin? Are you in Illinois? Actually, you're On the Border!

I wanted to place a cache to start off the Kenosha/Lake County Challenge Travel Bug. Rather than start it in one state or the other, I figured the best way would be to put it right in the middle and see who can get to it first!

There's an interesting story about how northern Illinois was almost part of Wisconsin. Yep... It would have been "Chicago, Wisconsin". After some shady political wrangling, however, the border ended up at N42° 30'. What I haven't been able to find an explanation for is why every map I can find puts the border right here, about a half mile south of the above line. Must have been some local "adjustments". Either way, this cache lies smack on the border between the two states.

The container is a cammoflaged screw-top plastic paint can.
