Since there is already a Great Works River cache, I decided to call this one the Asbenbedick River cache, which is the name that the Native Americans called this river.
The biggest difficulty you will have is to find the parking area without feeling like you are trespassing on private property. But if you follow my instructions I assure you that you will get there with no problem. The cache is located in the South Berwick town forest (there are no signs). The right-of-way begins off the Knight's Pond road at the coords, 43 15.164 N and 070 45.794 (you might want to print out the photo or the rough map that I uploaded below). Take a right turn off Knight's Pond Road onto the driveway/right-of way.there will be an old cemetery on the left and a house on the right. And there will be a farm house & barn up ahead of you on top of the hill. About half way to the top take a right turn after passing under a powerline. Follow this dirt road which runs parallel to the powerline, then bears left until it gets to the end of the field. Park at the end of the field.( coords: 43 14.998N 070 45.692).
From there it is a nice easy walk to the cache. Some of the path runs along a river bank, so watch any young children that might be with you.
The cache contains my first Travel Bug, "THE SILVER HUMMER", among other things. Also remember that November is deer hunting season in Maine. Please wear some orange. There is no hunting in Maine on Sundays.
