YES! This is the long awaited sequel to the legendary TUBE TORCHER… While similar in some ways to TUBE TORCHER, this Geocache hunt is like no other you will ever encounter. Before you go you will need to know a few things about the hunt itself and the environment(s) that this hunt takes place in.

Below is what we think the TRUE rating for this cache should be... Therefore, YOU ARE WARNED!!! :-)

THE HUNT: This is a multi-stage Geocache hunt… you will begin by visiting one place where you will find a “clue.” This “clue” will lead you through several other challenging excursions in which you will be gathering clues, training and experience in preparation for the conclusion of the hunt.

THE CONCLUSION: CLASSIFIED… This is for you to find out for yourself!

SPECIAL NOTES: This hunt will cover some ground and time—it can be completed in 2 days… or less if you are made of steel and have quicksilver for blood. Due to the strenuous nature of this hunt, we do recommend that you DO NOT GO ALONE! NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS CACHE IN GROUPS OF MORE THAN 4 OR 5 PEOPLE! DOING SO WILL ATTRACT MORE ATTENTION THAN YOU WILL WANT TO DEAL WITH! If you are afraid or unsure of: heights, darkness, various wildlife like spiders, snakes, raccoons, beavers, rodents, birds, bats, bees, getting dirty, wet, cold, scratched/bit by briers/wildlife, bruised, tired, hungry and/or possibly lost—then you should seriously reconsider going on this Geocache hunt. One or more of the above elements WILL happen to you on this hunt. However, if you are comfortable with uncertainty and you thrive for the challenge and don’t mind QUITE A BIT of discomfort then this is the Geocache hunt for you! If you do decide to take on this challenge, your experience will be one you will ALWAYS remember. GOOD LUCK!!

ITEMS NEEDED:

FIRST AID KIT

At least two good flashlights with extra batteries (hands-free headlights are best).

Climbing harness with a short length of GOOD safety rope/webbing and at least one carabineer. (If you are in good shape, or an experienced climber and not afraid of heights you may not need this item—but we recommend it for safety.)

A GOOD pair of gloves.

Rubber boots - Optional.

Kneepads HIGHLY recommended.

Notepad and pen, and a camera (you’ll wish you had it!).

NOTE: IF YOU TAKE PICS, PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE... DO NOT POST "SPOILER PICTURES"!!!

(DEFINITION-- "SPOILER PICTURES"-- Any pictures of clues, puzzles, entrances to major stages, etc... that reveal locations or difficulty levels... Also NO pics of final cache location unless picture is doctored... ANY questions, PLEASE email IndianaLee... THANKS!)

PLEASE GIVE EVERYONE ELSE A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THE "WOW" FACTOR!!! WE WANT THIS TO BE EXTREMELY CHALLENGING TO ALL HUNTERS!!! THANK YOU!!

WATER and snacks.

On With The Hunt!

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS CACHE IN GROUPS OF MORE THAN 4 OR 5 PEOPLE! DOING SO WILL ATTRACT MORE ATTENTION THAN YOU WILL WANT TO DEAL WITH!

NOTE: DO NOT attempt this hunt during and shortly after periods of heavy rain or during thunderstorms.

Cache Logs
October 20 by Lookfurit (488 found)
I’m not going to echo Hoopiehide and Nightowl’s logs, but I want to say that this has to be the most challenging cache I have ever undertaken. There were a lot of tense and painful moments, but always the drive to keep going, even at 1:00am. We talked about how much thought went into creating this masterful cache. It is both challenging physically and mentally. I can’t tell you much about what to expect because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I can tell you that it is most important to be the first person in your group, when you climbing though a tunnel on your hands and knees. You have the ability to drop a fart bomb and quickly keep moving. Count the seconds before someone gags and then you know how far you are ahead of them.

There were times I wished I was 3’ 5” instead of being 6’1”. There must be something very funny about watching a 50 year old man do the “duck walk” because my two teammates seemed to enjoy blazing down the tube and look back at me. I kept telling myself it was because they loved and cared for me, but I’m beginning to wonder now!

I enjoyed meeting OXGUFF and want to thank everyone who helped Hoopiehide, Nightowl, and myself. Asheville is a great place to cache and has some great people. I am looking forward to coming back and completing the Athena Trilogy. I should be back to 100% in about 2 weeks. Keep those cards and letters coming.

This was my first trip to Asheville. I had a great time with Lookfurit and Hoopiehide. Our main goal was too complete Athena's Companion and Athena's Curse. We also planned on getting a good start on Tube Torcher II and finishing when we go back to do Athena's Revenge. We were able to complete all 3! Whoo Hoo!

There are some beautiful views of the mountains in this area. I'll also add that the area has pretty crazy roads. Thanks to our Garmin Nuvi (We like to call her Lola) we were able to navigate around the town and grab several park and grabs while in the area. We were fortunate enough to meet shymntmn and OzGuff. Both were super nice. Can't wait to head back that way!

Well, I tried to get hoopiehide and lookfurit to stop by a McDonald's playground to sneak in some practice before we got started. Trust me, we couldn't have practiced enough! This was a great adventure. I'm thankful that we didn't have any run-ins with any critters or snakes. If we had there would probably be a new entrance to the tube ! Thanks to all of those who offered to help when we needed a little nudge.

The black hole
Just some of the gear that we took along with us.
The "gas man" (Lookfurit) completely gassed.

Hoopiehide strikes again!!! Found this one with Lookfurit and NightOwl09 while on a caching trip to the Ashville area. I'll have to say...we make a pretty good team. Each played an important role when we needed it the most. Our main mission was to complete Athena's Companion, Athena's Curse, and Tube Torcher II in which we were successful. We met many great cachers along the way and found some awesome caches. The Asheville area is a mecca for cachers, and I can't wait to come back to finish Athena's Revenge.

What an adventure! I can't even begin to imagine the work behind this cache's creation. Many thanks go out to the creators of this cache fo providing a wonderful caching experience. We had a few hiccups along the way, but in the end we were successful. Many thanks also go out to CrotalusRex, OzGoff, Ltljon, and Ranger Fox for assisting us and nudging us along. Several clues are missing and you must contact CrotalusRex before attempting this one at the present time. Some stages are fun, some are painful, and some will have you scratching your head. I never knew that there are so many things going on under ground. There's some cool stuff down there! A few things that I will list to help others.

1. Bring rubber boots
2. Make sure your lithium camera batteries don't die
3. Don't pass gas in the tubes since it is a confined space (although it does sound awesome!!!)

When we got to the final, we discovered that a tree had fallen on the cache. What's the chances of that? We sat there with OzGuff and exchanged some stories. It was interesting to hear about the FTF race that went on for this cache. We then had OzGuff snap a photo of us and back to Cohutta, GA and Cleveland, TN we went. Thanks again for the adventure. I'll never forget it...crawling under a construction site, hearing traffic drive over you, seeing the underside of my Ford Expedition while parked in a lot, etc., etc, etc,.

I accompanied a few out-of-town cachers on the last few stages. It was fun revisiting those stages! I think they just invited me along so that I could take their photo at the final... ;-)

Hi folks, There are a couple of clues missing on TT2. Contact me or IndianaLee prior to attempting the cache. The clues will be replaced after the construction is complete at one of the stages. Cheers, CrotalusRex
