Geocache Description:

0.5 mile hike up a Forest Service logging road that's been handed over to the forces of nature. Some brush, but easy hike. Bag this on your way back from the cache near Park Butte Lookout.

This cache has been placed at the site of the old Dillard Point Lookout tower, built in 1962. The building was also used as a weather station, but was removed in 1974. Now, only the foundation and a few structural odds and end remain. No view, just history.

Drive SR20 to Baker Lake/Grandy Lake Road, and turn left. Turn left again at Forest Service Road 12, and go three miles, turning right onto FS Road 13. Next, go to the second switchback (approximately 0.5 miles). Find an overgrown logging road off to the right just beyond the switchback, at N 48.41.011, W 121.45.078, and park here. Punch in the cache coordinates, and start your walk on the old road, pushing aside some occasional brush. It's just over 0.55 miles to the cache.

The Forest Service Parking Pass won't be necessary, because this is several miles from any trailhead.The cache is in a plastic coffee can, wrapped in a black, plastic bag for added protection. After reading some of the comments others have made about these bags, I would appreciate the next finder removing the bag and taking it out. Thanks!

Sunglasses (child sized);
Umpire pitch counter;
Three Whidbey Island maps;
Plastic camp cup;
