Forest Park History

This is the south side of the Forest Park near the Richmond Hill neighborhood. The photographer Jacob Riis (1849-1914), famous for his book How the Other Half Lives (1890), moved to Richmond Hill in 1886, and spent many of his most productive years living nearby. The hill in Richmond Hill was created by the glacier that formed Long Island when it melted, leaving behind huge piles of stones and rocks it had dragged across the continent. The area is likely named for Edward Richmond, a landscape architect in the mid-1800s who designed much of the neighborhood.

Hard to keep a strong signal. I visited 3 times and took 12 readings and averaged them. If someone gets better coords please feel free to post them.

Cache is a peanut butter jar located off a walking path.
