There you will find an entrance to Weowna Park that is seldom used by people outside the neighborhood.
To find the cache you will need to solve this little puzzle.
We here at the Ranch know a thing or two about chickens. A chicken lays an egg once every 25 hours. When the 25th hour comes after dark, there is a day without an egg. Instead, the egg will be laid the next morning. For the sake of this puzzle let us assume that the first hour of the chicken day starts at 6AM the last hour of the chicken day starts at 5 PM.
Currently we have three laying hens and two non-layers. Their names are Aggie, Collette, Richard, Umbles and Ribbon.
If Aggie lays her first egg at 6 AM, Umbles at 7AM, and Ribbon at 8 AM, after 12 days, how many eggs do we have. This number will be XY.
The number of eggs Richard and Collette lay in this same time period will be Z.
Use X and Y and Z to solve the following:
47 35. F G M and 122 06. H J K
F = X + X + X
G = Y + 1
M = Z + 3
H = 2Y
J = Y - X
K = 2X
Now, when you are walking through our little urban forest, be on the lookout for any Poodleranch chicken escapees. And if you see one call out one of these names, they might just come running!
You will be searching for the cache which is a .30 cal ammo container. It will be off the trail. Tread lightly. The coverage in this park can be so bad that the difficulty would be a star higher on such days. There were more than 25 coordinates taken over 3 days.
The camera was full and photos will be posted soon! We want everyone to be able to hunt for this cache, so if you need help with the puzzle, send an email!
February 2006 Richard the hen died at age 10+years! She was a good old friend. We will miss you.
February 2007 Aggie our black and orange hen died mysteriously. I will miss the way she used to crouch down when I tried to pick her up (and those big brown eggs of her's....yum!)
as of March 2008, the only remaining forest chicken is Ribbon, we have other new chickens, but will always remember our first girls! October 2008 saw our first raccoon attack and Ribbon was killed, hopefully chicks will be in our future in 2009.
