Ähnlich wie das Amstenrather Haus hat auch das Vlattenhaus den
Charakter einer Wasserburg. Eine Brücke führt zum Wohnhaus. Dieses
Herrenhaus sowie das landwirtschaftliche Anwesen tragen ihren Namen
nach der Familie von Vlatten, die bis 1733 ihren Sitz dort
hatte.
Kurz vor dem Einmarsch der Amerikaner im September 1944
zerstörten zwei Bomben das gerade neu restaurierte Vlattenhaus. Das
eigentliche Ziel der Flieger waren mehrere Panzer im Hof des
angrenzenden landwirtschaftlichen Anwesens. Nach dem Krieg war
dieses zerstörte Haus Wind und Wetter ausgesetzt und zerfiel immer
mehr.
In den neunziger Jahren wurde die Ruine durch einen Aachener
Architekten wieder neu errichtet gemacht und auf gelungene Weise
mit modernen Elementen ergänzt.
An den Ecken erkennt man noch die Fundamente der Türme

Comme la maison Amstenrath, le Vlattenhaus a aussi le caractère
de château d`eau. Une passerelle mène vers l´habitation. Le château
ainsi que la propriété agricole portent leur noms d`après la
famille de Vlatten qui vécues là jusqu'en 1733.
Peu avant l'arrivée des Américains en septembre 1944, deux
bombes détruisirent le bâtiment récemment restauré. Le but propre
des avions étaient plusieurs chars dans la cour de la propriété
agricole avoisinante. Après la guerre, cette maison fut exposée au
vent et tempêtes et se délabrais de plus en plus.
Dans les années nonante, la ruine fut reconstruite par un
architecte d'Aix-la-Chapelle qui lui rendit un nouvel aspect avec
des éléments modernes.
Sur les coins, on reconnaît encore les fondations des tours
