Geocache Description:

Please note that park hours are 8:00 am to Dusk. Parking coordinates provided will save you a great deal of trouble. The closest parking is NOT the way to reach this cache.

Today I went out and found my 2,000th cache and on the way home to celebrate, I decided it would be a great time to place a new cache in one of my favorite areas near home in the City of Federal Way's West Hylebos Wetlands Park.

The walk to this cache starts at the historic Barker and Denny cabins and meanders on wonderful well maintained trails all the way to the cache location which is just at the Brook Lake overlook, a very poplular spot with local bird-watchers.



This is a great place to find a bit of peace and solitude in an other-wise very busy area. I've enjoyed taking walks here for at least the past 20 years and have seen as the area has been improved time and time again.

The city recently completed a renovation of this area and has added wonderful boardwalks. This is a great place to take the family for a stroll. I hope you enjoy this area as much as I do.


Please note that for this cache there is NO NEED TO LEAVE THE DECK. I really want this to be a low-impact cache to keep this area great. This should be VERY easy. Just shimmy your way along behind the benches and reach under the northeast corner of the deck. Minimal acrobatics are required.

PLEASE cover the container back up when you are done. The ammo can is painted in a Creamcicle color scheme so there is really no painted on cammo.
