This is one of the most beautiful areas in our part of the Ozarks that we've found. EDIT: Logging has been done in the area and the trail is no longer there, and it is now a 1/10 mile bushwack.
A cache was previously near here but has been archived and we felt that this area was too special not to be seen and enjoyed by geocachers.
Don't forget your camera - because this is definately a Kodak moment.
With a little more walking you can see some breathtaking views of the White River and vistas beyond. As always, care should be taken especially by those with children.
The reason for the name is that it reminds us so much of Hawksbill Crag - one of the most photographed spots in Arkansas. Although this overhang is smaller - it has the White River below it - which is spectacular. The crag is easy to get to as it is within a short level walk from the parking off of a gravel county road.
The road to the cache is maintained by the county although it is very bumpy and rough but easily accessible by a passenger car. Turn off of Hwy 5 South onto Culp Road (a little over 2 miles south of Calico Rock). The parking area is approx. 2.4 miles from Hwy 5 - you can't miss the parking area, it's a flat area surrounded by large boulders covered with graffiti.
We've tried to start this as a quality cache (befitting the area) so remember - PLEASE TRADE EVEN, TRADE UP - OR DON'T TRADE! Leave something good for the next cacher! Also don't forget the bug spray.
