Geocache Description:

Bascially trail, trail, river bed climbing, ledge climbing. Do not do this unless you are comfortable with a bit of psuedo rock-climbing (no harness).

The general theme is that if you take the joker in the cache you should replace it with a joker from a different deck of cards. This may add an interesting twist to games such as pitch and Rummi 500 (with jokers as 25) to know where the joker is. Anyone else can take and leave what they please, there are a few other items in there.

The goal is not to confuse people about which trail to take or have you wandering around in the woods, getting poison oak-which seems to be the most popular plant in the area. It is more of a short physical and river rock navigating (depending on the rain) challenge. So I have marked all of the decision points for the route, along with which way to go.

Start-park outside of the Mount Cavalry Monastary off of Gibraltar road 34.4611455 North and 119.6882804 West. This is a cool area with several trails, a couple caches and a bookstore, if you have time visit but their parking is limited so please park outside

Walk up the road toward the monestary for about 15 feet and you will see a thin gate on your right (there is also a gate to your left). Take the right, go through the gate and take the half-trail/half creekbed that heads up hill.

You will come to the junction of one of the main trails and decision point SL1 34.4631768 N and 119.6902141 W. take a right onto the main trail.

In a short while you will hit decision point SL2 34.4636644 N and 119.6895676 W. where you will take the smaller trail that branches up to the right.

You will follow this trail until you get to decision point SL3 34.4673954 N and 119.6870636 W. where you get to a river crossing. This is where you need to leave the trail and head right up the river bed-may be best to wear water shoes it lowers the shoes versus brush concern and makes boulder hopping more fun. Please be careful of poison oak.

Follow the river bed until you get to decision point SL24 34.4672934 N and 119.6840387 W. you are now really close and just have to figure out where it is. For the record this is why I marked it as a terrain difficulty of 4.5.

Please note: I am sure there are other ways to get to this trail probably via the other rattlesnake canyon trailheads, you can always park in your favorite spot and catch the route at SL1.
