Geocache Description:

“Original” Main Street is the first Main Street derived from Sinclair Lewis' book "Main Street."  Main Streeters is the High School moniker.

The 10-block Main Street is on the National Registry of Historic Districts and is considered to be the inspiration for Sinclair Lewis’ 1920 novel Main Street, the satirical novel of small-town life that brought him worldwide fame. His book started the concept of “Main Street” as a symbol of American small towns…and you can find a Main Street in just about every town today.

The beautiful Mural was designed by local artists depicting Sauk Centre through its history from Native American settlers to modern day plus an original Carnegie Library in the Renaissance Revival style.
