PT: Capela de Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso ou da Senhora das Areias
Esta capela encontra-se no interior da Mata Nacional do Camarido, estando bem próxima da Foz do Rio Minho e do acesso à Praia da Foz. Uma das razões que faz desta capela especial é o facto de estar tão próxima de um local tão movimentado mas ainda assim passar despercebida.
Passo a citar a inscrição que se encontra na fachada da capela e que no fundo resume o essencial da sua história:
“ESTA CAPELA DE NOSSA SENHORA DO BOM SUCESSO, EDIFICADA PARA COMEMORAR A VICTÓRIA PORTUGUESA CONTRA O EXÉRCITO FRANCES DA 2ª INVASÃO EM 16/2/1809.
ARRUINOU-SE NOS FINS DO SÉCULO XIX E FOI RECONSTRUÍDA INTEGRALMENTE POR INICIATIVA DE MANUEL RODRIGUES PIRES, COM A COLABORAÇÃO DO Dr. MANUEL BUSQUTES DE AGUIAR, E AUXÍLIO DOS HABITANTES DE CRISTELO.
É PROPRIEDADE DA FREGUESIA DE CRISTELO E FOI INAUGURADA A 28/9/1941”
A Cache:
Devido à existência de algum lixo no local e aos muitos muggles que por ali passam, tanto a caminho da praia como dentro do parque de campismo tive de esconder o container a alguns metros da capela, ainda assim, vindo da zona da praia para chegar à cache passarão em frente à mesma.
Atenção que o sinal de GPS é instável no local devido às árvores
EN: Chapel of Our Lady of Good Success or Our Lady of the Sands
This chapel is inside the National Forest of Camarido, being very close to the mouth of the River Minho and to the access to the Foz Beach. One of the reasons that make this chapel special is the fact that it is so close to such a busy area but it still goes unnoticed. I quote the inscription found on the facade of the chapel that summarizes the essence of its story:
"THIS CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF GOOD SUCCESS, BUILT TO CELEBRATE THE VICOTORY OF THE PORTUGUESE ARMY AGAINST THE SECOND FRENCH INVASION IN 16/02/1809.
RUINED ON THE XIX CENTURY AND FULLY REBUILT BY THE INITIATIVE OF MANUEL RODRIGUES PIRES, WITH THE COLLABORATION OF Dr. MANUEL AGUIAR BUSQUTES, AND AID OF THE POPULATION OF CRISTELO.
IT IS PROPERTY OF THE PARISH OF CRISTELO AND WAS REOPENED IN 28/09/1941"
The Cache:
Due to the existance of some garbige on the area and to the many muggles that pass near the chapel, going to the beach or inside the caming park, I had to hide the container a few meters from the chapel. However, if go to the cache from the beach entrance area to get to it you'll pass in front of it.
The GPS signal is unstable in the area because of the trees.
