Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This cache is part of the Maine R.O.S.E. Series and is meant to be really obvious, simple and easy. It's perfect for cachers who want a quick find, or who are not up for a physical challenge. The purpose of this series is to promote caching to everyone, and create a fun family cache experience. Some fellow cachers get discouraged by vague descriptions and caches that appear to be difficult hides. Our attempt here is to make the cacher aware of the entire situation before they attempt the cache. If you have any comments that should be added, please let us know.

Directions: This cache is located just off Rt 1/Rt 15 in Orland. The cache is on a side road called Narramissic Drive. This side road is a dead end. It is beside the Narramissic River. Without snow banks, there is room to turn a car around in the entrance to where the guardian's reside. There is also, without snow banks, room to pull to the side of the road. Please use extreme caution when pulling into this road from Rt 1/Rt 15 as this is a very busy road with high speeds.

Parking: There is space for a single car to pull off to the side of this road. In winter, snow may inhibit pulling to the side of the road and doing so may reduce this road to one lane so please use caution.

Difficulty: This cache has been rated 1.5 for difficulty because the cache is not in plain sight. You will need to remove the cache from a man made structure on the side of the road. This cache is not placed exactly like other roses but close. Search your very best and you should wrap this up without a DNF. Please replace it where it was found.

Terrain: This cache has been rated 1.5 for terrain because there is no trail.

Distance: The distance from the place to pull to the side of the road to the cache is roughly 18-30 feet, depending on where you choose to park.

Cache Container: The container is a small rectangular Lock N' Lock type container.

More Information: This series has been developed in collaboration with Cache Maine and Becket. We have each committed to hiding a dozen rose caches in our area. The release of these roses will be sporatic in hopes to have three dozen live by Valentine's Day 2007.

Stopped by to retrieve the trackable before the cache is entombed in snow. This cache is not winter friendly when the snow gets high. Thanks to all who have visited.

Easy find. First time geocaching for our Orland Friends Alvion and Cindy. Took the "Around the World in 5 Years" Travel Bug and left a Maine Travel Coin to start its trip throughout the State of Maine. TFTC.

Thanks for the quick and easy find. Grew up in Orland and my great-grandparents are buried just up the hill. It's a very serene spot that I was excited to show my kids. The liked the basketball cards so we took those and left behind a couple rings and some temporary tattoos. Thanks again.

Another quick PnG while out on a caching run with Shuman Road Searchers.

Dropped a TB for the next cacher to help move along
