I've heard Geocaching events described as a "Zoo" before. Well, this one definitely will be!
The Basic Idea:
The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Hundreds of events, located worldwide, coordinated to be happening at exactly the same time, to bring geocachers together and have some fun. Sort of a combination Flash-Mob and Mega-Event!
All over the world Flash-Mobs have gathered for a variety of reasons. The theme for this Flash-Mob is "Welcome to the Zoo". Although anyone can attend and log the event, you are encouraged to wear a zoo animal costume or mask. This should get us some attention! If you don't have one, we'll have some simple masks for the kids to wear. Come be part of this historic event as we go for the record number of simultaneous flash-mob events!
The event will begin precisely at 1:00 PM EDT on June 9th, 2012 and last for 15 minutes and not one second longer. It will be held at Cohanzick Zoo, Bridgeton, NJ at the coordinates listed above. We will meet just off of the parking lot overlooking the Water Wheel as space allows. If necessary you can also park at N 39° 26.240 W 075° 14.449.
The Plan:
At exactly 1300 hours (as determined by the GPS clock), the "Flash Cache" full of themed swag will be opened and we will all converge upon it, seeming to come out of "nowhere".
We will hand out "log sheets" that will double as door prize entry, have some snacks, take a group photo, hand out door prizes and clean up all in under 15 minutes.
At precisely 1:15 the event will end and the cache along with the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be vacated without a trace! The idea is to vacate the event area as quickly and quietly as possible. I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!)
The Event is located in main parking lot of Bridgeton's 1,100-acre city park which includes the 18 acre Cohanzick Zoo. The Zoo features over 200 birds and mammals from around the world including white tigers, bears, leopards, ring-tailed lemurs, and eagles. Admission to the park and zoo is free.
Cumberland County went nearly 7 years between their last two events (with the most recent being only a mile from the county border). Bridgeton, as the county seat, is a great place to start letting Cumberland get caught up!
This event is not affiliated with WWFM, the non-profit Classical Music Network
that just happens to be located in New Jersey.
This event IS affiliated with The Worldwide Flash Mob Site.
