A place to leave letters to Diana
This is a very special location in the Nevada outback. While several theories exist regarding its name, everyone agrees to its beauty and unusual nature. This is well worth the trip out to the location. A quick search on the internet will also provide you with additional information about the geology of the site.
Be careful when approaching the top since the opening is approximately 50' across and 30' deep. I have read that the water is extremely hot, and I could easily imagine that unhealthy gasses accumulate within the bowl itself. Take a few moments to appreciate the hardy plants that thrive at the bottom.
Plan accordingly when visiting caches in isolated locations such as this one. You will not see many other vehicles or people and you will probably not have cell phone coverage. If you decide to take one of the mountain roads to cross from one valley to the next, carry the appropriate equipment and drive the appropriate vehicle.
Please remember to tread lightly when visiting a special area like this. Grafitti and trash in the bowl are sad testiments to the irresponsible few who damage these great locations.
Thanks to NevadaWolf for sharing the location with me!
