Geocache Description:

This cache commemorates two historic aerial events that took place over 70 years ago at this location. You can combine this hunt with one for nearby Homeland Defense #1. Both sites feature exceptional views of the ocean.

Update 6/23/2003:
We have converted this placement to a virtual cache to bring it into compliance with Park Service policy. A diligent NPS employee has apparently removed the container after its successful 9 month presence at the site and more than 40 logged visits.

You will be only able to approach the general area from the north. The location is accessible during daylight hours on weekdays and weekends. You will want to visit between 9 am and 5 pm if you are also attempting to find Homeland Defense. The closest legal parking is a short distance to the south but involves payment of an entrance fee. Free parking is available 0.3 miles to the north at N 32 40.880, W 117 14.615. You might also elect to take the Route 26 bus that has a stop just across the street from the cache. Do NOT park adjacent to the site. This is strictly prohibited - as noted on nearby signs.

To validate your virtual find, please email us - do not post - answers to the following four questions:

1. What two organizations are identified with commemoration of the early pioneers?

2. What two individuals are identified for their pioneering spirits?

3. What were their milestones?

4. When did these events occur?

Good luck and have fun!
