This cache has been archived.

JoesBar: It's been almost three years. This one's had a good run. When I picked it up I scouted a new multi. Now if I can just put it all together.

Geocache Description:

You will need a pencil and paper and maybe a calculator. You will only need to do addition and subtraction.

This cache is accessible from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

Enter at the Mayfield Rd. gate. If you wish to get a map of the cemetery, enter at the Euclid Ave. gate as this is closest to the office. The cache begins near the Garfield Monument.

Start your tour at the listed coordinates. At the first five stops, look for an angel(s). You will find a family name on each angel monument. The names listed are first and middle names. You can walk between stops one and two, and again between stops four and five. If you choose, you can walk the entire route.

While not necessary to claim the cache, I highly recommend visiting two buildings here. Wade Chapel is located at 41* 30.806N, 081* 35.679W. Wade Chapel is open 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, April 1 through October 31. President Garfield’s Monument is located at 41* 30.600N, 081* 35.499 W. Garfield’s Monument has the same hours and is open April 1 through November 19. Dogs are welcome here on a leash. Restrooms are available a various locations.

To find the cache you will need the following information:

Stop 1: At the cords listed above you are seeking St. Michael, the Archangel. (He has a sword.) At this location find a man named John. He was secretary for Abraham Lincoln. He also has a high school named after him in Cleveland. How old was he when he died? Now use this formula: 674 – John’s age at death = ABC.

Stop 2: N 41° 30.ABC,, W 081° 35.426. Here you will find two angels and The Lord. Find Thomas Easton. (First and middle names.) He was very young. What year was he born? Use this formula: Year of birth – 1263 = DEF.

Stop 3: N 41° 30.DEF, W 081° 35.163. A relief angel. Here you should look for Mary Gertrude. She has a birthday that would later become famous. Write the month and day as a three digit number. Use this formula: MonthDay + 665 = GHI.

Stop 4: N 41° 30.GHI, W 081° 35.382. Angel on high. Here you are at the family plot whose name is the same as a nearby ‘Oval.’ Look for Jeptha. He was born and died in the same month. Use this formula: 69 + month = JK.

Stop 5: N 41° 30.JK0, W 081° 35.426. A seated angel. At this location you will see one of the most famous angels in the cemetery. Now find Francis H. You need both the year of birth and the year of death. Use these formulas: Year of birth – 1145 = LMN. Year of death – 1582 = OPQ.

Stop 6: N 41° 30.LMN, W 081°35.OPQ. The cache.
