Geocache Description:

Bathtub Lakes are a grouping of beautiful little lakes. I accessed them from Pinnacle Lake. Pinnacle Lake - Pika Heaven (GCK5TF)
(FS RD 4020, 4021, Hiking, 1.9 mi one-way, More Difficult, Start elev. 2700) 11/15/2006: INACCESSIBLE Road barricade before junction with 4021, washout at the bridge on 4021.

Evergreenhiker! told me about these lakes so I placed this cache in his honor. The challenge to reaching these lakes from Pinnacle Lake is the Iodine Gulch. The bottom of the gulch is at N 48 03.188 W 121 45.471 at about 3700 foot elevation. Up is the key here. Look for footpaths. When you can't find where others have trod follow the rocks up. Part of the way up the gulch splits and you will need to summit on the right hand side. Top of the gulch coordinates are N 48 03.209 W 121 46.046 at about 4700 foot elevation. This gulch is very steep and a hiking stick or trekking poles could be helpful. I relied on my hiking stick esspecially when coming down. On a clear day there are spectacular views of Glacier Peak from the gulch. From the summit follow the yellow paint marks to the lakes. Should be about a half mile to the cache box after getting over the summit. Cache container is a .50 caliber ammo can. Didn't have many trade items but what I did leave are quality things of different values. I skipped the kids toys, type trade items. Best accessed from the high side. Use the hint and make an easy find, saving your time to enjoy what is really fine!

This area can also be reached from Mount Pilchuck for those with good map and trail finding skills. I haven't tried this route yet. It might be a good option now that a bridge to the Pinnacle Lake trailhead has been washed out in the 2006 storms.
