This cache is the first and last point on the Dartmoor Forest boundary, as established by the 1240 Perambulation. More details about the Perambulation can be found on the cache page for the Dartmoor Forest Bonus. On the front page of the logbook is an adjustment to be made to the Bonus co-ordinates, which you will need to find the Bonus.
The huge dome of Cosdon dominates the northeastern part of Dartmoor, and from its summit the views are magnificent. Your long walk lies to the south and west of here, and after fifty or so miles, it is to here that you will return.
Many of the points on the Perambulation have changed names over the centuries, sometimes so greatly that it is not always certain which modern landmarks are being referred to. This is not the case with Cosdon, as its name has remained unchanged for the last eight centuries; when the knights set off on their historic march, they did so from the Hogam de Cosdonne.
If doing the Perambulation as a route, the next point on is Little Hound Tor. Head down the southern flank of Cosdon hill, making sure not to stray east into the infamous Raybarrow Pool!
