Rond de Toren
De naam “Rond de Toren” is afgeleid van het blad wat iedere inwoner van Liessel maandelijks in de bus krijgt.
Deze wandeling leidt je “rond” de Kerk van Liessel en laat je kennismaken met het ± 700 jaar oude Kerkdorp.
Met ’n inwoneraantal van ± 3500 is Liessel (in de volksmond Lijssel) het grootste Kerkdorp van de gemeente Deurne. Het ligt aan de rand van de Deurnese Peel.
Vroeger, en nu nog wel ’n beetje, stond de Liesselse bevolking in de direkte omgeving bekend als erg nieuwsgierig. Zelfs tegenwoordig heeft Liessel z’n dorpskarakter weten te behouden. Iedereen kent iedereen en er is ’n goede sociale controle.
Liessel heeft ’n bloeiend verenigingsleven, waaronder o.a. het ruim 670 jaar oude St.Hubertusgilde , Harmonie St. Cecilia en Carnavalsvereniging “de Kei”
De Molen (Beltmolen van meer als 100 jaar oud ) van Liessel genaamd “de Volksvriend” ligt ook aan deze route en is gratis te bezichtigen op donderdag en zaterdag van 10.00 tot 16.00 uur. De molenaar zal U graag het e.e.a. vertellen en demonstreren.
Verdere informatie is te vinden bij de waypoints die je passeert tijdens de wandeling. Tijdens deze tocht kom je langs diverse horecagelegenheden en speeltuintjes met bankjes om eventueel even te rusten.
De tocht loopt grotendeels over verharde paden, alleen het laatste stuk gaat over zandpaden. ( helaas niet geschikt voor rolstoelen) Na ongeveer 5,5 km ben je “rond”.
Al met al ’n keileuke tocht in ’n keileuk dorp.
Mocht er nog tijd over zijn dan is De cache "In Geuren en Kleuren" 'n echte aanrader voor de liefhebbers van 'n schitterend natuurgebied. De start hiervan is slechts enkele honderden meters van deze verwijderd.
Around the Tower
“Rond de Toren” (“around the tower”) is named after the monthly publication for all residents of Liessel. This walk leads you in a circle “around” the Church of Liessel and makes you acquainted with this ±700 year old parish.
With a number of approximately 3500 is Liessel the biggest parish of Deurne. It’s located at the edge of the Deurnese Peel. In the old times, yet still, people from Liessel had a reputation of being very curious. Even nowadays Liessel has the old village qualities like for example everybody knows everyone even knowing what their jobs are etc.
Liessel has many clubs like there are the St. Hubertusgilde (since 670 years!), Harmonie St. Cecilia and Carnavalsvereniging “De Kei”.
The Mill in Liessel (more than 100 years old) is on view every Thursday and Saterday from 10.00 till 16.00 hrs. The Miller can tell you all about “de Volksvriend” (name off the mill).
Additional information you will find at the waypoints during your walk. You’ll pass a number of catering establishments and playgrounds where you can sit down en enjoy a picnic.
The trip leads mostly over paved footpaths; only at the end the path is sandy (unfortunately not fit for wheelchairs). In about 5,5 km you’re “circled” (=”rond”).
It’s a real nice trip in a really nice village.
