GIG: On the Go - Camping and Slumber
Party
GIG (Girls in Geocaching)
is on go. Breaking from the usual tradition, let's have an
informal get-together the night before the Spring Picnic! And
since we're breaking the usual traditions, this one is open to the
entire family and other cacher(s) unfamiliar with
GIG!!!!
As discussed at the April GIG
dinner, I realized that many of the GIG members would be in
attendance for the
Spring Picnic (GC17WWE). Some of us are camping in the park,
some of us are camping at the local hotel/motel/Holiday Inn.
Since no gathering was planned for Friday night, I knew we'd have
to get together for some fun and fellowship.
Team CB_Indy contacted me (with a
little Jaypit thrown in for good measure) with an idea for Steak on
the Barbie. When I read the email, I knew the plan was
hatched and born.
So....here's the plan:
Some people bring grills.
I'll bring a lot of charcoal. I'll even bring the plates,
napkins, and plastic utensils. Everybody brings their own
main course and beverages. Everybody brings a large bag of
chips. If anyone else wants to bring a side dish, desert,
whatever, - bring it along. I'm not calling this "AN
OFFICIAL PITCH IN", but I think it will all work out just
fine.
So....Come hang around the
campfire, throw something on a grill, pull up a lawn chair and
let's all get acquainted!
Random notes:
- The coordinates are only
approximate. I wasn't able to get exact coords for the event,
so Jaypit was kind enough to utilize his (vast) mapping skills and
get approximate coords for us. I'm sure you'll be able to
find us. We're a big bunch of silly people hanging out in the
campgrounds with GPS receivers attached to our hands.
- If you can bring a grill, please
state this in your log. I'm guessing we'll need four or five
grills. (Maybe some of the locals could help out with
this. I know my vehicle will be packed/stuffed to the gills
just in camping gear! LOL)
- I think it would be funny if we
all show up in wild, wacky pajamas. It IS a slumber party,
right?! This was Anabel's suggestion and I think it's a great
one. (But don't feel obligated to wear your
jammies!)
- Ouabache State Park charges
admission. If you don't have a season pass, the admission
charge will apply.
- For this event, we're hanging
out at the campground. (NOT the location where they are
holding the Spring Picnic.)
- Bug Spray would be a good
idea.
