Geocache Description:

The esteemed community newspaper "The Wilberforce Wattle" recently reported:

"The caretaker of the South Wilberforce Cemetery was shocked to discover that, as a result of last week's torrential rains, the steep bank at the cemetery's north-west corner overlooking Wilbermere Lake eroded ....... exposing several graves. One coffin in particular, that of Leweena Gizzardstone has actually tumbled down the embankment and split open scattering her skeletal remains adrift on the waters of Wilbermere Lake.
Local residents are alarmed. Although none were alive when Miss Gizzardstone resided in the village (she died in 1902) there isn't a soul in town that hasn't quaked at the telling of the terrible tales concerning her. (Thus, maybe accounting for the high number of bed-wetters in the community)"

Fellow Geocachers - Let me tell you - this is TERRIBLE news. Everyone has their fingers (and legs) crossed hoping that sooner, rather than later, Lecherous Leweena will be put BACK to rest .....before something REALLY awful happens. (opps, too late ... Brittney Spears just gave birth to a second child)

Unfortunately, it won't be as simple as scooping Leweena's remains from the lake. Some of her bones have been carried downstream by the currents. Other were plucked from the water by scavenging ravens. Any bones that washed ashore were quickly snatched by roaming stray dogs.
The local Search and Rescue Team has sent out a S.O.S. calling on the superior skills and extensive expertise of Geocacheres around the world (well at least within a 2 hr. drive).
Of course, it goes without saying that fearless Geocachers are undaunted by ANY challenge but we must warn you that this task does NOT come without dangers ...... and a sense of urgency. Hallowe'en approaches. Lewenna Gizzardstone's bones must be recovered and QUICKLY. It is hard to say what might happen if Leweena's bones fall into the hands of witches, werewolves and other unsavory folk of the forest (no I don't mean hunters) that are roaming the woods on the eve of All Saints'day
GEOCACHERS UNITE
To lend your assistance join fellow geocachers at the Wilberforce Morgue (formerly known as the Lloyd Watson Community Centre) Sat. EVENING Oct 28 2006. Don't come alone (there's safety in numbers) Dress for the weather and bring a flashlight(s)

You'll be given the coordinates of all the known bone "sighting' then your "Geo-Search and Rescue" Team is on its own. Once your team has found presumably all the bones head back to the morgue to reassemble the pieces (just to make SURE we've got all of her) By the way, bone up (no pun intended) on your CSI episodes cus we're hoping your autopsy and forensic investigation will reveal interesting details about Leween's life and disclose just how she died. I never did buy the story that she was trampled by thirsty elephants while canoeing the Irondale River.

Later, after the cremation (we're taking no chances on another burial) we'll all sit round the fire, toasting marshmallows and trading hair-raising stories of our nights adventures

Please Note:
This activity may induce bed-wetting in children and lily-livered adults.
Rated PG. This outing may not be suitable for very young children
