GeoCachers Gone Wild at
the Oasis
5th Annual
Portales Heritage Days GeoCaching Event.
Date June 16th
Start Time 11:00 AM
This year (like last year) we
will be meeting at a State Park and the Rangers are again being
very nice and letting the GeoCachers into the park for free.
There will be two events in one again this year. All teams
will meet at the above coordinates between 10:00 and 10:45 AM each
team will be given a starters kit. Only one GPS and one
vehicle per team. At 11:00 AM we will go over the ground
rules and then get it all started. ALL teams must be back at the
above coordinates by 3:00 PM.
The first event will be the
main event and send you all over and around Portales. The
second event will be “Just For Kids”. This event will be held
at the above coordinates. It will consist of several caches
within walking distance. Parents are encouraged to go along with
the kids and help with the GPS. The kids can exchange items
in the true GeoCaching spirit. This year the Just For Kids
part of the event is being run by team
BobKatz.
For the second year
teams
TheButlerandTheQueen and
Team
FBI will be preparing and serving
all the food. This year it will be BBQ beef and drinks. Water
will also be provided for everyone to take on the search for
caches.
Prizes will be awarded for
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. There will also be some special
prizes. Teams are encouraged to stay as long as they like to
visit with other GeoCachers.
If you plan on making it
please post a note here as soon as possible. I need to know
the number of team members, the number of kids and their ages (so
we can be sure to have the kids caches stocked).
Due to logistical
limitations of managing teams, I must know by midnight June 6th if
you plan on coming to the event.
Please place
this cache on your watch list. It will be updated as
plans develop. Plan on a day of caching and fun.
Remember to bring extra batteries and sun screen. There are
several teams I want to thank for there generous donations.
