Keene is pretty good about keeping its parks and trails clean, but after a snowy winter has passed, the thaw may reveal a bounty of trash, missing gloves, and whatever else washes down the river and clings to the water's edge! Sticks and other debris may also be blocking the path! Let's give two beloved parks, and the trails that connect them, a clean sweep! And of course, get some smileys while we're at it! Both parks already have multiple geocaches, and there just might be more published by event day, if you know what I mean! ;)
WHEN: Saturday, April 25th 12pm-3pm
Please arrive a little early. We will set out promptly at noon. If you arrive a little late, you can probably catch up with the group, or leave with a late "wave", if there is enough participants to warrant it. If you suspect you'll be very late, just head over to Wheelock Park and meet us along the path. You must participate in the CITO to sign the logbook, which does not open until 1:30pm. Rain Date: Sunday, April 26th 12pm-3pm
WHERE: Ashuelot River Park & Wheelock Park, Keene, New Hampshire The event starts in the Ashuelot River Park under the archway. Parking is available in the Elm City/Mascoma Bank lot, or across the street in the CVS/Panera lot. We will start the CITO with the Ashuelot River Park grounds, then follow the trail along the river, then cross over it heading westwardly on the Appel Way Trail toward Wheelock Park, where we will complete our cleaning/caching experience. It is an approximately 1.5-2 mile walk, on relatively even terrain. One or more shuttle vehicles will be available to transport Geocachers back to their vehicles between the two parks.
WHAT TO BRING:Trash bags and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own, if you have preferences! Please bring: good walking/hiking shoes, your standard Geocaching gear, water, snacks, and a smile!
Want to be a Volunteer for this CITO event? If large numbers plan to attend, we may need extra shuttle vehicles,"Wave Leaders" and additional supplies. Please contact SurryRoadSeekers if you would like to help! Thanks in advance!
Hope to see you there!
