A micro hidden at the base of a tree.
Today, 21 November 2010, my wife ran in the Quito half marathon (21 kilometers). The race started at the Bull Ring on the north side of Quito, through Cotocollao, past the El Condado Mall and out the highway to Mitad del Mundo (the equator monument). I was very proud of her and she had a good time. This was her longest race so far. I arrived at the finish line well ahead of her so I walked to a place along the route about 500 yards from the finish line. In front of the "Dios es Fiel" church I found a nice place to sit beside a small tree. It was the closest tree to the church sign out near the road. From there I was able to watch the race. Gently and unobserved, I place the cache in its hiding place. If you visit the Mitad del Mundo area the cache is maybe about 500 yards from the parking lot on the way towards Quito. If you are driving, there are plenty of places to pull off the road near the church and look for the cache. Be careful as there may be muggles around.
