Hangman Island Traditional Geocache

It appears as if the cache is GONE.
'Canes or theivin' pirates have made off with the cursed loot.
We do not have time to get over their with the canoe for a long while, so I guess we'll have to archive it.
Good luck to any of you placing a new cache there. It's a neat place and we'll be sure to find it in the future.

The tale at the local campground is that this island was once used by the locals as a place to hang pirates!
We came upon this island by way of canoe. We were staying at the Fort DeSoto campground and heard several regulars mention a rumor about a local island that was haunted by the souls of pirates that were hanged here. Foolishly, we decided to embark upon an adventure that would lead us through wind driven currents, dangerous shoals, and baking sun. We finally came upon this particular island and entered from the west coast.
While traveling through the dense thicket, we thought we heard the voices of dead pirates haunting us. Luckily it was just the sound of the wind making the branches of the trees creak and moan. Continuing, we came upon an old trail that ran from the west side of the island to the east side. On the trail we found a dead tree. All that was left was the twisted trunk. On a branch extending from the trunk was a hangman's noose! We were freaked out and headed right back to our small vessel. But before we left, we placed a cache with lots of goodies for those brave enough to find it.
Please don't bring anything too large, as the cache is stocked full. Also, there is no log book, so if someone would be kind enough to place one, we'd appreciate it. Please rehide well. Good luck, if you dare!
