Geocache Description:

South side of Homestead meadow near the edge of the Big Elk wildfire.

If you intend to do this one at the same time as Tahosa's Homestead Meadows North and/or Lion's Ridge I'd recommend doing this one first in order to reduce back tracking and extra elevation gains. The cache is a 3 x 12 inch plastic ABS pipe pictured below.

NOTE: A fellow cacher reported that the original location for this cache (Engert's Overlook) was on private property. On 9/9/2005 I went to investigate. A typo in the coordinates did have the cacher searching on private property, but the cache was on public land. The cache was very near to private property however. So near in fact, that approaching it from any direction than the one I took to place it would force seekers to cross private property unaware. It seemed prudent to move it. So I did. I moved it across the valley. See thetopo map in the gallery. The original location of the cache was at 8818' mark. New location is at 9455' mark.
