Keep following the dirt road until it looks like you have to turn
right, but look straight ahead and drive into the open gate
surrounded by the chain link fence.
You have arrived at Pabco--our future trailhead location and
meeting site for your clean-up.
We will be cleaning up the Wetlands Park. This park is a great
place, but many people have taken it for granted and left tons of
trash all over the place. Also, many people aren't even aware that
this park existed(we weren't) so it will be great to gain publicity
for it. We will be picking up and carrying out trash(Parks &
Recreation will pick it up later). Parks & Recreation are
providing a dumpster, trash bags and a porta potty for us.
Suggested items to bring are:
1. Work Gloves and Plastic Gloves.
2. Boots.
3. Long Pants.
4. Long-sleeve shirt.
5. Bug spray.
6. Your GPS.
7. Water.
8. Friends and family.
9. Cameras for pictures.
10. Anything you think might be helpful.
At 8:30 there will be doughnuts and hot chocolate, and a quick
get-together to organize and get moving. There are three areas that
they have designated for us to clean up. You can look at the
pictures that have been posted to see the trash and brush that we
will be facing. Please, wear long sleeve shirts and long pants if
possible, and bring bug spray.
Around 12:00 we will be stopping for lunch. It will be pot luck,
so if everyone brings something to share that would be great. I
will be bringing hamburgers & hotdogs. If everyone can list
what they will bring in their logs, so we don’t get 800 pounds of
chips, that will be great. We are not allowed to barbeque in the
park, because of fire restrictions, but they are helping us locate
a spot to barbeque(most likely Silver Bowl Park). During lunch is a
great time to geocache. Those who wish to may then spend the
afternoon caching although no formal itinerary will be planned.
Things we still need are a barbeque grill and some 5 gallon drink
containers. Perhaps a shelter of some type would be nice as well...
please post a note if you have and could bring any of these
things.
In case of inclement weather(it's Vegas, it doesn't rain), bring
rain coats(we don't want to reschedule again).
