We were on our way to Hntrs Hideout(GCH7G5) when we found ourselves in deep do-do. Not real do-do but the hypothetical do-do that sometimes makes us use the other word to describe it (oh S---). We started out down a road in the dark in winter (well kind of) it was snow covered and icy. The road got narrower and narrower. Pretty soon the road was down to a single car wide and not looking to good, so we proceeded with caution. Well then it happened, going down hill, a bank to our right, a drop off to our left, the Jeep pointing down hill (in the dark, remember that part) and what little bit of road that was in front of us was gone. At least the whole right side of it was. That is what we call deep do-do. A slow backwards creeping of the car brought us back up the hill to an area big enough to turn around. And a big sigh of relief. Only one problem, we still need a cache in the area for the Delorme Challenge. So do we hike in, it’s just over a mile. But it’s dark, there is a river, stream or brook on the topo map between our current location and the cache. The only way around, is way around. So we drove away defeated. When low and behold we stumble upon a fishing access for Shadow Lake. We know we have the tools to place one and found an appropriate place to do so. (In light of our current situation).
Since VT Geodevils helped place the cache (and the cache can only have one owner) Buzz was first to sign, so the Official FTF will be the second signer and the prize is a vermont covered bridge pin. Good luck and happy caching.
