A county preserve
The brochure says that the serpentine grasslands of Edgewood Park are famous for their magnificent displays of wildflowers each spring. This would be a convenient spot to start a hike. You might even see the Bay Checkerspot Butterfly, which is supposedly found only in this park and in one other.
The sign at the entrance says that the park hours are 8-5 and that the gates are locked at 5.
